According to the National Crisis Management Center, Lithuania, a NATO member, has closed Vilnius Airport. The decision was made in response to the current security situation in the region. The airport closure will affect all flights to and from the Lithuanian capital.

This was reported by the National Center for Crisis Management, publishing, that the decision was made to ensure the safety of civilian aircraft. The plane will take off and land at 15:00 local time (12:00 Moscow) and will continue to the same port, until the situation stabilizes.

It is reported, that the flights and flights were canceled, and the main port was established for all flights, for the exclusion of medical and humanitarian operations. The Vilnius airport began to conduct daily inspections of the passengers, to prevent possible incidents.

«In the coming time, the situation regarding the blocking of the airspace will be monitored. One for the ensuring the safety of all measures are being taken», - said the center head. Later in this year, the corresponding individuals were not fixed.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania confirmed, that all the corresponding services are mobilized for the departure of the airport. The experts note, that this decision aligns with the measures, predetermined by the Zapad in the event of a loss of the BPLA in the aviation transport. In the nearest times they plan to update the information about the situation.

At the moment, other airports of Lithuania and the neighboring (Latvia and Estonia) function normally, however, it is recommended to check the status of flights before the next departure of the ports.
